How does resume tailoring work?
You build one structured profile, then paste a job description against it. tailorurCV extracts what the posting asks for, scores your profile against it, and rewrites the resume for that specific role. The underlying profile stays the same, so each application gets its own tailored version without re-entering your history.
What file formats can I upload?
PDF and DOCX. tailorurCV parses either into a structured profile you can edit, score and tailor. If you have no file to hand, you can skip the upload entirely and either answer a short guided form or describe your background in a few sentences and let the model draft it.
What formats can I export my resume in?
PDF and DOCX, across every template in the catalogue. Because each template renders the same stored profile, you can switch template and re-export without redoing any content, and version history keeps the earlier renders available.
What is the difference between a CV and a resume?
A resume is a short, targeted summary — usually one or two pages — tailored to a specific role. A CV is a fuller record of an entire professional history, and is standard in academia and in much of Europe and Asia. tailorurCV builds either, tailored to the posting you are applying to.
Do I need an account to use tailorurCV?
You can upload a resume and see the preview without one. An account is needed past that point, because your profile, generated files and tracker rows are stored per user on the server rather than in the browser — so they survive a closed tab or a different device.
How long does it take to build a resume?
About ten minutes from scratch. If you upload a resume you already have, parsing it into a structured profile takes under a minute, and tailoring it against a job description is a paste-and-score step from there.
What makes a resume ATS-friendly?
A single-column layout, standard section headings like Work Experience and Education, real selectable text rather than images, contact details in the body rather than a header, and consistent date formats. What breaks parsing is structure the software cannot linearise — multi-column tables, text boxes, and text stored as a picture.
Which file format do applicant tracking systems prefer?
Either PDF or DOCX, unless the application specifies one. DOCX generally parses most predictably because the format records headings and paragraphs explicitly. PDF is fine as long as its text can be selected and copied — a PDF exported as a flattened image extracts as nothing at all.
Do applicant tracking systems automatically reject resumes?
Usually not on a score. An ATS mainly stores, parses, searches and ranks applications so a human can work through them, and the filters that do reject automatically are the knockout questions on the form — work authorisation, required licences — rather than an assessment of your resume.
Are AI-written resumes penalised?
